hello, sorry about cycling update number 3 which was at 6am, coming home from a bar. we reached berlin on 8th july, after we left gothenburg, it was more flat rainy sweden to helsingbor, where we got the ferry to helsongor in denmark, a days ride down the coast to copenhagen which was a cool city. we did all the touristy things are were shown round by my friend katja. after 3 days there we continued down the danish coast to gedsar, where it was a 2 hour boat to rostock in germany. 3 days later we hit berlin, where we stayed in hostel full of american interrailers. it was the weekend of the 'love parade', which i have never heard of, but anyway the place was packed full of ravers blowing whistles and dancing about. it was dead hot, and sunny, and we cruised around berlin on our bikes, visited the wall, went up the tv tower etc etc.
the east part of germany was a bit weird, there didn't seem to be anybody living there, and all the roads where dead straight with trees down the side. the camping grounds were full of massive motorhomes, and everyone eats sausages. weather was good though. nobody speaks any english at all, and my german is terrible, so i just answered in norwegian and they seemed to get the drift every now and then. we voted germany our least favourite country so far, with petrol stations where they keep the toilets locked, and we voted copenhagen best city for cycling in the entire world. hope things are fine, more from poland (actually i'm in poland already but never mind) paul
